As players of the Varsity Soccer Team, Jerry Tlatelpa and Serafin Ariza have proven themselves to be outstanding athletes. Now seniors at PHS, they have demonstrated being able to keep up with their academics, while also focusing on their sport.

Tlatelpa’s reason for joining the PHS Soccer Team is the passion he has for soccer in general and because he enjoys playing it. Ariza joined the soccer team because of his friends. “Having people that relate to me in a certain way creates bigger and better things,” said Ariza.

They both had their own goals and high expectations for this soccer season. Their season might not have gone as they had expected, but overall, the team ended strong. “Unfortunately, we didn’t make States, but things happen for a reason. It just goes to show, that soccer is a game, that no matter what, the show must go on,” said Ariza.

Tlatelpa sends his best wishes to his underclassmen teammates for a better season next year. “As for me,” he said, “I plan on going to college and playing soccer there, since it’ll always be a big part of my life.”

Ariza also has last words to give before he leaves PHS. “I wish the best to the future team and good luck to Coach Fazio and his goals to win Counties,” said Ariza.

He plans on going to college and working hard to put all the life lessons Coach Fazio taught the team into action. “He always told us to become better men on and off the soccer field.,” Ariza said.

PHS appreciates the dedication and effort of this team, and we’re looking forward to witnessing what next year’s Varsity Soccer team brings to the field.
