Cross-country track is a sport where the athletes have the ability to obtain personal and individual victories as well as helping the team achieve a group victory. It is for this reason that it is unlike other sports where the team is part of every play. In track you have to rely on yourself. You cannot depend on anyone else.
The hard work and dedication that every track athlete brings to the sport is directly evident during a meet. Every track meet is an opportunity to achieve a new personal record, to feel pride at all the effort you have made.
During practices, the long distances of running allows student athlete to organize her thoughts as well as exercise. I enjoy the experience of watching the scenery change while running. Competitions are wholly a different experience. Athletes must be both physically and mentally prepared.
The greatest challenge during this season was keeping a strong mindset, and to constantly keep improving. The team this year improved with every meet and ended the season stronger than we began it. The Cross-country track team should be proud of the diligence they showed toward the sport and our school.
