As a runner for the girl’s track team I can only attempt to express the feeling of running a race. During every race I run with an intensity that comes from deep inside. As the race progresses I am dripping with sweat, but I am focused, eyes and mind, on the finish line.
My passion for competition is not a new idea. My desire to come in first has a long history routed in the ancient past. Greece is the birthplace of track competition. That drive to excel has been handed down through the ages to PHS seniors who live, eat and sleep track.
Being on the track team for three or four years has made me a better athlete. However, there are other lessons, learned from track, that are easily translated to life as well. I have learned responsibility, determination and team work.
As a team the goal for the PHS Track Team is to always put forth the effort required to achieve goals, both individually and for the team, for every race. Every competition is another opportunity to demonstrate that hard work pays off.
Everyone on the team works hard and so everyone on the team encourages each other to reach their full potential both on and off the track. Together we demonstrate that PHS Track is a force to be reckoned with, that we are tough competition for any other school.
I would encourage any student to join the team. Any student who wants to represent PHS and themselves with pride should join, because the track team is an experience like no other.
