As the nation heals from the horrible tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary School,
a call was made to help those students heal and feel welcomed at their new school. The Connecticut PTSA had the great idea to fill the hallways and classrooms with snowflakes, created by people from across the nation, each containing prayers, well wishes, and other notes. These snowflake prayers would help the students feel like they were not alone to make the best of a horrible situation.
Mr. Zeiler’s English classes participated by creating snowflakes as a bell work, to send to Connecticut. “My students really appreciated the opportunity to show these children how much PHS students care,” said Zeiler. He added, “I hope this process of prayer is cathartic and brings all Americans together.”
Students also expressed their gratitude, being able to send their prayers. “These words are from my heart,” said senior Susan Malpartida. She added that she hoped that these young students can forget all the bad that had come their way, and “look forward to a brighter future.”
PHS students answered the call for support. As this country heals, let us not forget the little children who were most affected by this tragedy.
