In an attempt to enliven the institutional colors of PHS hallways, art classes are endeavoring to showcase student talent. Art is not just for class papers and projects but brought to the very school building itself. Mr. Fumero, art teacher, is passionate about art and bringing art to the masses. The school should be a work of art, dreamed up in the minds of our fellow students. Therefore, the school beautification project is continuing this year, under the guidance of Mr. Fumero.
Art can and should be all around us, and to that end, the murals that have been started will continue this year. Students have been painting murals around the school and you should look at them on your way around and between classes. (Just don’t look at them so long that you are late for class.)
There is the march of science on the way to the science wing, the military crests by the ROTC rooms, great African-Americans from history in Mr. Walker’s classroom, a visual interpretation of music by the music rooms, and famous artists’ works recreated by the art rooms. There is so much done, and yet so much yet to do.
“This is not only for an art class, it is an outlet where students can show their expressions and emotions,” said Mr. Fumero, of this ongoing project.
He added that the reason he is doing this project and that he is so passionate about it is because, “art is a way to improve your motor skills and it helps by giving you a different perception of life.”
So, if your are looking for a different perception, another way of looking at things, or just want to appreciate the brighter, livelier halls of our school, just look around, there is art all around us.
