Student wins contest and sees her essay published

Junior, Luz Comacho entered a national essay contest, sponsored by the National Girls Ministries. The winners of this contest were published in their Annual Theme Booklet. The essays were to be entitled, “Why We Do What We Do,” and entries were collected from the entire nation.

Luz Comacho entered the contest, wishing but not expecting to win. “I just like to write, and I think I have something important to say,” she said. However, after all the entries were collected and read from all around the country, Luz won!

The Girls Ministries strives to help girls empower themselves so that they can realize their importance and potential. They provide resources to help individuals reach universal truths and make good decisions. This values based organization fosters Christian character, teamwork and cooperation in service to God and to all society.

To be acknowledged by an organization with such lofty ideals from a field of entries that spans the entire country is not just a great honor for Luz, but for all of us at PHS.

Luz said, “I’m glad that I can represent PHS like this,” adding, “I want everyone to know that there are good things going on here at PHS.”

This is a great start. Congratulations.
