PHS Students Learn to Have Their Voices Heard This November

By Jaqueline Sanchez

Everyone is aware that this year’s presidential election has been very intense. Many people want to make “America Great Again,” in the case of Trump supporters. Or some want, Hillary, “Fighting for Us.” And some even wanted to “Feel the Bern.”

However, while everyone can have an opinion about these things, the only way to get your voice heard is through an exercise of your right to vote. In the spirit of getting student voices heard, Mr. Pablo Munoz, Superintendent of Passaic Schools, took action on this front.

On May 24, PHS Principal Mr.Velez, arranged a presentation to all students, who are over 18 years of age, to encourage them to register to vote, later this year in November, in this year’s presidential election.

Your Vote Counts

Voting is one of the most important aspects of a democracy. Students should make effort to participate in local, state and national elections.

“Every vote counts. Only you guys can make a change,” Mr. Velez stated to the crowd of seniors.

A couple of students from the Student Government Class also presented a Powerpoint presentation, in which they explained why voting is important and how it has changed throughout the centuries.

Students were given the Voter Registration Form, filled it out and handed it in. This encouraging presentation made an impact on many and now they are willing to make a change in our country beginning this November.
