The end of the year has arrived! This year’s freshmen are becoming sophomores, sophomores to juniors, juniors to seniors, and we seniors? We’ll do it all over again as freshmen in college. It feels like it was just yesterday that we were here, nervous on the first day of school.
And now, in just a few days, it will be the last day of school and we’ll be thinking about summer vacation and planning for the rest of our lives. Again we are nervous and excited.
I remember a few years ago when I was so excited to enter my freshman year. One of the employees that worked in Family Dollar told me that my high school years would go by quickly.
I didn’t think so at the time, but it was true, high school does go by in the blink of an eye. It’s important that we cherish every moment we have, and that we make the most out of everything we do.
It’s also important to know that it’s ok to make mistakes. That’s what our teenage years are for. We could look back on all of our accomplishments this year, all the places we’ve visited, all the new things we’ve learned and all the things you took a part of.
Sometimes it just hits you when you realize that you’re growing up and moving on to the “real world.”
It hit me when I started to apply to colleges, then getting acceptance letters, not just so I had somewhere to go after high school, but to start preparing for my life.
Even if you don’t know what you want to do, or if you’ll be able to pay for it, even if you don’t earn a scholarship, you should start living your life to the fullest.
The end of the year is very different for everyone, some accomplishing more than others. As the end of the year approaches, we start feeling thrilled as some start planning for summer to go on vacation. School starts feeling like the first scene in High School Musical 2, when they all are looking at the clock waiting for school to finally end.
The end of the year can be exciting but daunting, but more exiting so enjoy every moment of it. It is truly okay to be nervous and excited. Hey, it is our life!
