“Let’s flip the track, bring the old school back (This is how we do it)” blared through speakers as students from every grade filled into the New Gym. The annual Pep Rally had arrived to Passaic High School. Good vibes filled the air and the class of 2017 was ready to celebrate their last Pep Rally.
When the Pep Rally officially began at 2:40, everyone pulled out their phones and started to post on the one place we teenagers know best: Snapchat. Nothing like a couple of 10-second videos to show all your friends the fun they were missing.
The Pep Rally continued with the Pledge of Allegiance lead by the Naval Science students, who showed that Thursday is uniform day– no matter the occasion. Then the crowd was once again brought to their feet as the State Champion winning PHS Marching Band lead us into an eventful afternoon.
It is not Pep Rally until all the athletes get their time to shine. As all current sport teams were announced: Girls Tennis players, Cross Country, Boys and Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Cheerleaders, and last, but never least the Football players, they were all given their moment to shine.
Our Boys Soccer coach stated, “To have a team you need a team effort.”
Every team in the gym showed that there is no I in team.
The Modern Dance team made sure the crowd knew and was fully aware that girls will always run the world! Following the dancing and excitement of the Pep Rally came the competitive side from every class. Sophomores claimed the victory in musical chairs. Tug-of-war on the other hand… let’s just say the winner is a mystery yet to be revealed.
The Pep Rally was a memorable event that the class of 2017, and the rest of the grades, will never forget. Students were able to relive the moments through Snapchat Stories (for 24 hours, of course). Nothing like a hashtag and a puppy filter to end the night!
