Save the Date for Youth Appreciation Awards Banquet

The Passaic Optimist Club is holding a Youth Appreciation Awards Banquet on April 6, 2017 at 7 p.m. at The Sevilla Restaurant in Passaic. Passaic High School’s very own Octagon Club, which is a junior organization of the Optimist Club, is participating in this event.

The Octagon Club, advised by Mr. Sheridan, is committed to community service here in the city of Passaic. Some of their primary activities include Bagging for Bucks at Shoprite in Passaic, Halloween Pumpkin Painting, Gift of Giving and Easter Egg Hunt with the Speer Village Kids, Student/Faculty Basketball Game, Thanksgiving, Holiday and Mother’s Day Luncheon with Passaic’s Seniors, and the Passaic High School Emergency Relief Fund.

The Passaic Chapter of the The Optimist Club has been around for 48 years and awards $30,000 in scholarships annually. The annual dinner gives students the recognition that they deserve for their positive influence on their school and community.

Tickets will be available at the door for $35. Clubs, teams, and organizations have the opportunity to sponsor an outstanding youth student who is positive, hardworking, and goes above and beyond expectations. These can be students from Lincoln Middle School or Passaic High School. This prestigious honor went to 25 Passaic students last year.

All are encouraged to attend or submit a student for recognition for this truly inspiring event. All honorees and their parents/guests will be guests of the Passaic Optimist Club. For more information, see Mr. Sheridan.
