The Passaic High School Indians Softball team has put their best effort forward this season and show the true meaning of teamwork and dedication. The girls have been working hard during the off season and throughout the regular season to push themselves and succeed.
A great way to start out the season was a win over Paterson Kennedy on our home field. The girls accomplished this on April 4, with a score of 21-4.
The hard work of head coach Kaitlyn Vinciguerra and assistant coach Kassie Neurouter has been made evident with the grow in teamwork between the players and helping the team understand the importance of the practice.
The varsity team captains, Chanelly Diaz, Maryah Sabat, and Anlly Henriquez all have the same hope for the outcome of this softball season. Not only for more wins, but also that the team works together better, not only on the field but also for the community.
Diaz stated, “Our coaches constantly remind us how we practice is how we play.”
On April 15, the team beat Paterson Eastside in Paterson with a score of 8-3.
Although the outcomes of the games don’t always work in the softball team’s favor, the girls understand the importance of their dedication to the game to the city of Passaic.
Sabat believes “the softball team represents pride in our community. No matter the outcome of our season is, we hold our heads up high and strive to be better.”
Diaz and the rest of the team knows, “The softball and baseball team are important aspects of our community. Without these teams, Passaic would not be the same.”
