The Boys Varsity Volleyball team has significantly improved since their last season. Varsity members have been striving to make every aspect of the team better. Now that sophomore, Ariel Aguilar has been named captain of the team, he hopes to bring change to the team and how they play.
“As the varsity captain, this season hasn’t been the best season for us, as we expected it to be, but what I do expect us to do is to take this season as a season of development. Meaning getting to know each other better and understanding more about the game” said Ariel.
Although the season hasn’t been all they thought it would be, PHS staff and students have been sure to give their support to the growing team. The team currently stands at 5-16.
Varsity Head Coach Omar Munoz has made it clear to the boys that the teamwork in the practices will help them during volleyball games when they are under pressure. The boys have made it clear that they are dedicated to the game and growing as a team to be better.
Over the past years, the team has changed significantly at PHS with the change in coaches and incoming and leaving senior players. The team has learned to always keep their heads up no matter what the outcome of any game is. They have developed a bond like no other PHS sports team.
As seen from their practices and games, the boys on the volleyball team never bring each other down but help each other get better. The positivity within the team is astonishing and every chant they sing during games makes it evident they’re a team that will grow to be one of the best.
