On May 22, 2017, a suicide bombing was conducted outside of the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, following a concert by Ariana Grande as part of her Dangerous Woman Tour. 22 of the concert-goers and parents who were in the entrance waiting to pick up their children after the show were killed, and injured over 100.
A few hours after the attack, Grande tweeted a message on Twitter: “broken. from the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.” She suspended her tour and four days after, on May 26, Granda announced that she would host a benefit concert in Manchester for the victims of the attack.
One Love Manchester, was held on June 4, 2017, and took place at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester. It aired live on BBC One and simultaneously streamed live on various platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. 50,000 people attended the concert. The set list was star studded featuring, Justin Bieber, the Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Marcus Mumford, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Katy Perry, Take That, Imogen Heap, Pharrell Williams, Robbie Williams, and Liam Gallagher.
The British Red Cross has reported that they received 10 million pounds, which is about $13 million, in donations for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. The funds will go to help the victims and their families. It is good to see celebrities come together, and bring some type of positivity to the world.
