The Student Council has been diligently working since the election took place in October. Some of the topics discussed in the meetings are events for the school, like potential movie nights and other events.
As a member of the council, I can say that the group is working hard to make the school a better place. The meetings are open to anyone in the school, and anyone who comes can be a part of the meeting and be heard. These meetings are held in room M229 every Tuesday after school.
Currently, we are working on events, and a survey to get information from the students to see what we need to focus on next.
There are a total of 19 representatives that hold seats in the council, there are six from each the sophomore, junior and senior classes, and one freshman representative.
There are also four executive board members that go to each Board of Education meeting and essentially, voice the school’s opinions. This helps for students to get involved in higher-up decisions and be a part of positive change in the city and our schools.
