The 2019 – 2020 school year is one that will never be forgotten. From the great strides that PHS has made in instruction, to the success of our football team and basketball team, the NJROTC program’s continued excellence, as well as the marching band and choir, and every other curricular and extracurricular activity, PHS is certainly a school on the move.
National events have also shaped the memory of this school year. Politics, epidemics, national and world-wide strife have all impacted the way that every senior, as well as every other student, remembers this school year.
With the mandated order from the governor of New Jersey, that all schools be closed and turn to remote learning, the students and staff of PHS leapt into action, completing the one-to-one initiative, providing every single student with a Chromebook, in record time. With administrator working around the clock and faculty and staff members volunteering their time and expertise, PHS transitioned from a brick and mortar school to a virtual learning environment overnight.
The staff of The Hilltop Star has attempted to remain a beacon of what journalism should be, informing the PHS community, and giving students a voice. We hope you have enjoyed our print as well as our digital online presence in journalism.
As the graduating class of 2020 leaves PHS, the staff would like to wish them well. As for the rest of the PHS community, please stay safe, have a great summer, and see you in September, back “in” school!
