When playing on a new team it can be very nerve wracking. Some rules I go by are to always be yourself upon meeting your teammates and always try your best regardless of skill. These will be the guys/girls you will compete next to and soon will become closer with. It is important to show you are eager to learn about the sport and improving your skills everyday. Good teammates will never judge you based off skill but will definitely notice a strong minded player!
My advice as I graduate and leave the team to the next generation of players is to work hard and also learn to work together as a team. These players are all here to do the same thing. Play the sport they love, compete, make friends and especially have a wonderful experience in high school. Even though it is always awkward at first, that feeling passes, and the fun that replaces that is worth it. The whole thing is totally worth it. These will be the best memories of school, so do not miss out on them.
