New Hall Pass System courtesy of Skynet: A Satire.

A Collective Collaboration of Hilltop Star Staff

With the need for more security in the halls and around the school, a new hall pass system has been approved for implementation. Soon there will be a new digital system that will allow students to easily access the lavatory without the time consuming burden of asking a teacher to go, filling out the pass, and then getting it signed. Then, while you are in the hall, getting checked by security and going, then returning, getting checked by other security guards and finally returning to class to see what you missed.

In the previous system, students were forced to think about getting to the restroom after a long process of asking for permission, getting the appropriate paperwork approved, and then signing out and then signing in. At the end of this process there may have been a puddle, and a useless pass.

However, this new system backed up by the latest AI technology will determine if you are really going to the lavatory, or if you want to say hi to your friends. If the higher learning model determines that you are really going to the bathroom, then a quick approval pass will be created for you. Skynet AI will ensure that only students who have a real purpose will be tolerated in the halls of PHS.

The system will monitor how many times you need to go, check your deposits for sugar levels, and pathogens and illicit substances. The student does not need to think about any of it. This easy system will monitor all levels and make the appropriate call to either the school nurse for further testing, medical professionals for health issues, or the SRO’s for contraband substances. The student does not need to worry about any of it.

There was concern that the new pass system might be too difficult for students to access but since they already carry around a personal computer/tracking device system in their hands. These devices (sometimes called phones) are advanced enough for Skynet to seamlessly interface them and access all your data for passes. Some data rates may apply.

Some of the best features were saved for the monitoring of students in the halls and maintaining the timeliness of students in the halls. Students need to remain on task for as long as possible. Therefore, your digital pass will alert the hall monitor to your time out of class, so that you can easily be returned. Automated hall monitors will urge you to class, so no time is wasted.

This smart AI system will even detect students who do not have a pass, or have thought about leaving class for an unintended reason, as determined by the infallible Skynet Artificial Intelligence hallpass system. The T-101 hallway monitor will ensure the safety of students as well as ensuring their time on task in class. “They will be a great motivational tool for our students,” said one administrator.

With technology advancing all the time and everyone becoming more and more dependent on the internet and technological devices, it is great to see how some of this technology will help students stay safe, make the lives of teachers and administrators become easier by not writing antiquated paper passes, and help everyone stay on task longer in class.
