The PHS Indian Varsity Basketball team has returned better than ever. A victory of 73-50 is a remarkable score against the tough team from Bergen Tech. There is no question that PHS will continue to see the victories rack up with a fastbreak team like this year’s.

On January 17, Passaic played an intense game against Bergen Tech. A game in which our whole team played with strength and fluidity.

Given that basketball is both a mental and a physical game, it takes remarkable perseverance to keep going without becoming arrogant. Passaic excelled at this, maintaining momentum the entire time. This team just will not quit.

Additionally, the majority of the Bergen’s players were stumbling throughout the game, leaving the final score 50-73. They just did not have the energy and persistence of PHS. Passaic proved not only their success in becoming a fastbreak team but also that perseverance and hard work pay off in success.

The entire audience was on the edge of their seats during the suspenseful game. And in the waning seconds, one of the players scored the game’s final three pointer, sending the crowd into raptures. It was a fantastic win for Passaic, leaving huge smiles all over the gym, the players celebrating, and the crowd cheering.

After a difficult season with only two victories last year; The team has returned this year ready to play and make their mark ont he court this season. Their 59-43 loss to Kennedy certainly helped them improve for their following victories.

With just two wins last year and so far four this year, they have shown way more improvement. Stay strong Passaic, we’ve got this!

Leaving you with a final remark from one of our players, Christian: “I am very proud of our victories as they have strengthened our team. Our team has worked extremely hard and it has been paying off. I am so proud of us and I know things will get better from here.”
